Black women remain profoundly underrepresented in computing, yet their experiences are too often flattened into single-axis narratives of either race or gender.
Using intersectionality as an analytical lens, this study centers the voices of Black women in computing to reveal how overlapping systems of oppression shape their pathways, their sense of belonging, and their persistence in the field.
The findings call on the computing community to move beyond surface-level diversity efforts and toward structural change that accounts for the full, intersecting identities of those it seeks to include.
